Wiki in the classroom:


  • Group projects: Students work together in one place to research, outline, draft, and edit projects within the wiki.
  • Assignments: wherever there is internet access homework, course materials, study guides, and more are available and can be posted.
  • Resource Collections: Organize articles, websites, videos, and other resources for students.
  • Peer Review: Post questions for student brainstorming, or have students post papers for peer feedback.
  • Group FAQ: Students and/or teachers post and respond to questions.
  • Parent Involvement: parents have a chance to be a part of the classroom and stay up to date on classroom news and events.
  • Online Newspaper: students can create and publish online school newspaper.
  • Student work can be ongoing: gives students an opportunity to continue research, collaboration and information sharing.
  • The desired outcome of the unit is to encourage students to think critically and collaborate.
  • The function of the wiki is to either provide a collaborative space in order to complete another product OR serves as the final product
  • It will allow for Simple, Quick Websites
  • It can be used for Group Authoring
  • Set up a page as a Research Archive
  • Use it to Showcase student work
  • It can promote collaborative research
  • Use it to conduct asynchronous discussions
  • The unit must be conductive to research.
